Hi, I'm Jonothan and I create food, product, interior and lifestyle images for clients ranging from small internet retailers to large companies like Jacuzzi and Kaiser Permenente. I started taking pictures in High School. I still remember, and probably have packed away somewhere, the first image that made me fall in love with photography. Walking on the beach one day I was looking at the brilliantly bright sand and the rocks embedded in it and thinking it would make an interesting image if it was printed really dark and moody, so I underexposed some images and took them to the local drive through photo finisher and asked for their "Pro" processing. I hoped that they would print the images as I shot them and not try to lighten them up to look "normal". When they came back exactly like what was in my head I was hooked. I attended San Diego State University, studying to become a lawyer and a politician in the hope of making the world a better place. My first photo instructors told me I should be a photographer. I thought it was a crazy idea, but I spent the next few years studying art and photography and then went into assisting a big production shooter in LA. That "crazy idea" has turned into a long career as a successful shooter. I now live in the San Francisco Bay area with my parrot, Charlie, and two guitars, music being my most recent obsession. Some of my clients, Chronicle Books, Kaiser Permanente, Numi Teas, Jelly Belly Candy, Jacuzzi and Sundance Spas, Elestory, Wine & Spirits magazine as well as doing retouching for Banana Republic, Levis and Dockers, The Veterans Administration and others.
